Just Call Me Nana!

Well, it is official! I am now, not Grammy, but Nana! I tried out the Grammy to go along with Grampy for my hubby, but I never really liked it. A few weeks ago, my friend who is expecting her first grandchild mentioned she wanted to be Nana and I started to feel a little sad I didn't choose Nana. About a week later another friend said she and her husband are Nana and Papa and, again, I felt like I was missing having the title of Nana! So, the other day, I referred to myself as Nana and my daughter said, "oh, I like that better! I never really liked Grammy." Who knew?? So, Nana it is! Yeah!!! (I still like Grampy for my husband!) I figure Nana is pretty easy for little ones to say and it still sounds ok for an older child. Of course, if my litte JR calls me something else- THAT is what I will be!!

Baby Boy turns 21!

Yikes! My little man is really a man now! He turned 21 a few weeks ago and had just moved into a house he is renting with his friend, who I will call J, a few weeks before that. I am adjusting to an empty nest ok. (Well, it only took me a couple of hours to transform Baby Boy's room into a Sewing/Scrapbooking Studio!) Let me just give a shout out to the blog world for my son- he is a great kid! What other 21 year old says "I love you" to his mom right in the middle of his workplace as she is leaving? He is just an awesome son. I am thankful and blessed to be his mom. We homeschooled, so we spent a lot of time together. He is a hardworker from what I can tell and J says he does all the housework, which I am happy about, since I kinda wondered how he would be at that, noting that his room in the last few years, had taken a disgusting, laundry piled, dirty dishes scattered, dusty turn for the worse from the previously neat as a pin that he used to have (and I adored and bragged endlessly about!)
I don't think 21 makes a person old and knowledgeable about everything of course, and he is still young and wondering what to do with the rest of his life. In my little Catholic grandma way, I would love for him to find a strong Catholic girl, get married and have 10 babies! God does provide, right? Anyway, he will figure it all out and this step out towards independence is a good thing, I think.
Baby Boy, may the Lord Bless You and Keep you!! Amen
