A visit to Ikea

I have been very curious about the new Ikea store that opened up near us, so today, I convinced my husband to go with me to check it out. The fun thing is that we learned our daughter and grandson were also going with her Mother in law. Well, hubby and I got there right when it opened and scoped it out- had a little lunch and then shopped, shopped, shopped. Now, I am trying not to spend too much money (my birthday was a couple of weeks ago and I have overspent a little here lately) but we have been trying to do something different on Sundays. So we didn't spend too much! But oh, the deals! The prices were great- almost like the flea market. I bought a couple of pot holders (my old ones were nasty) a pack of 4 dish towels (same thing), I bought 3 of their reusable bag to carry stuff for a wedding I am catering next month, a dish drainer, clothes pins (yes, I hang out my clothes), this nifty umbrella hanger to dry small items on, cutting board sheets (mine, again, were getting tattered), a little stuffed elephant for my friend's diaper cake I am making, so I did pretty well. My daughter and her Mother in law and my little Grandson didn't get there until 2:30 or so- we checked out and then waited for them- then went back through for a little bit. It was awesome!! A frugal thing that they had was a furnished model of a 590 square foot house- YES we can live with less. These days, that is a good lesson! We had a good time!

Some other good deals I have gotten lately- I bought about 8 yards of pale yellow calico fabric for $2.50 at the thrift store the other day. I thought it was good for pillow cases and a skirt and who knows- it was a lot of fabric- it was all bundled up with masking tape, so I didn't know exactly how much I was getting- you should have seen my husband and I trying to fold it up!!

I also saved about $20 in coupons the other day, so that is good! I try really hard not to buy anything at the grocery without a coupon. My store also honors all stores coupons, so I make out pretty good that way with $5 off with a $50 purchase. I also read a good tip the other day- stock up on something each grocery trip.
