More wedding pictures!

My daughter, Mrs. D, got married 10/10/10 and I recently got a CD from my niece with some pictures, so I was playing around with uploading them from my Ritz account- let's see how this works!

Well, it worked! As you may have read before, I have had some difficulty loading pictures to my blog, so maybe this is another option- that loaded in no time!

What special memories do you have from your children's weddings? (I can't believe it has been almost 10 months for Mr. and Mrs D and nearly FOUR years for Little Mama and Daddy M! God is so very good!)

A Tablescape that we actually ate at!

www.betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com
Yes, you read that right! We actually 1) had company (which we never do),2)used this tablescape and 3) actually SAT at the table! It was my nephew's birthday and my sister, Tammy had to go out of town, so she asked me if I would do the cake thing for him. I said sure and then decided to have him and his brothers and a friend of his for dinner. So, I had the 4 of them, my son (Baby Boy or BB)and my husband- talk about out numbered! Anyway, I served baked chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, brocolli and homemade rolls.(I would also like to share that I finally have made good mashed potatoes, twice now- I was having a problem for awhile!)It was pretty good I must say. So here are the "before" pics.

The cake! June is a very busy birthday month for our family- hubby, me, Lil Mama, my 2 late grandmas, the nephew we had this cake for and another nephew share the same birthday! Happy Birthday to all of us!

I would like to thank Marlis who made some suggestions of how to load my pictures faster- it took a little work to figure out, but I think I got it- these loaded to my blog really fast!

And as always, our wonderful hostess, Susan deserves a warm thank you for hosting this fun event every week. It is a nice little cyber escape to others' homes for a peek at some beautiful tablescapes!

Many blessings-

Nana's birthday fun!

Nana had a birthday last week and it was a really happy one! I have decided to just embrace birthdays instead of dreading them (I am all for looking as young as possible too, though! Which reminds me- don't you think Grandmas are getting younger and younger looking every day? hehe)
Hubs and I decided to drive to Orlando (75 miles)and stay overnight and spend my birthday just hanging out in Orlando- no, no theme parks this time- there is still a lot to do over there. When we got there we decided to have dinner at a trusted spot that we love- Chilis! Can't go wrong there! We stayed at Ramada Inn- well a former Ramada Inn- it had changed hands- and I got a good price at hotels.com . The next morning we had our coffee- which, sorry, we have to bring our own because we don't trust away from home coffee too much! So spoiled! I had brought a few breakfasty things, so we just kinda snacked through breakfast and we headed to the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe Roman Catholic Church. When I looked it up online, I discovered that before the Basilica was built, Masses were held at different hotels and even at Disney World for the travelers! Isn't that awesome!

This is Hubs looking at the memorial wall.

The courtyard.
The birthday girl- 40-12 or 30-22?

A close up  of the carved door above.

Lots of prayer candles!

Then on to shopping (right next door, actually!)

Then we had lunch at Fuddruckers- yum! And it had been raining the whole weekend and was still sprinkling and Hubs said, "so what do you want to do? It is raining." I said, "I still want to go to Downtown Disney." I don't think he was too happy, but he took me! It stopped raining shortly after we got there and he got a new hat to add to his collection and we sat and had a nice cup (yes, nice) of coffee.

This is Buzz and Woody made out of Legos (Legos and Toy Story have a special place in this Mama/Nana's heart- Baby Boy (BB) loved them both when he was little and so does JR now- yes, I cried at Toy Story 3)
The birthday girls- Lil Mama's birthday is 3 days before mine.
The grand boys!
Grampy (Mr. Nana) and SJ.

The son in laws and Mrs. D

We had our own cakes!
It was a great birthday!

Let's see if the picture loader is working better?

Hi Everyone! Nana hasn't posted for awhile because she was getting a little annoyed with the picture uploader thingy here on Blogger. It was taking forever to get pictures on my blog. Without pictures, what is the point, right? Well, I am on on the hubs' new computer, so let us see if that works better. (update: it didn't load any faster, so can someone tell me what to do?)
My tablescape is a cheater one this week (actually, I have had this up since right after Easter), it is the no dish look. I am going to try and be better about posting, but like I said I was having trouble. (I also forgot to take a black and white one, which I started doing with my new camera- oh, well, if I remember next week before I tear it down, I will get one!)

I love the look of the flowers, fake or not!

As always, have a great Tablescape Thursday! Thank you, Susan for all the fun at Between Naps on the Porch

(If anyone can help me with the picture uploader, let me know!)
